Audition registration is now open for our fabulously fun Spring 2021 production of Legally Blonde, Jr! This award-winning musical based on the movie follows Elle Woods and friends as she tackles stereotypes and scandal all in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic choreography, this musical is so much fun it should be illegal!
Auditions are open to student performers aged 10-18. There is a $375 performance fee associated with this production; fundraiser and discount options are available! Contact us for details. Auditions, rehearsals, and performances will be held at the Snellville Performing Arts Main Street Theatre located in the Snellville Plaza at 2485 Main Street East; Snellville, GA 30078.
Masks will be required for auditions. All auditioners will have their temperatures checked upon arrival. Once cast, all cast members will be temperature checked before every rehearsal and rehearsals will be masked. It is likely that masks will also be worn during performances based on current trends. For performances, audience members will be masked, seated socially distanced by group, and limited in number if current trends remain.
-Prepare 30-60 seconds of a Musical Theatre song in the style of the show
-Bring a karaoke/instrumental track with you on a phone/tablet (we have aux/Bluetooth)
-Bring your completed audition packet and conflict calendar (we will email this to you)
-Bring a recent (within 6 months) headshot – it DOES NOT need to be a professional headshot
-Arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled audition slot
Students will wait in the lobby, then will be called in individually for their audition time. We will introduce ourselves, chat with the student, listen to their prepared song, and ask any questions we may have, as well as answer any the student may have, as well. Each audition will not last longer than 5-8 minutes. Callbacks will be on an as-needed basis. If your student is not called back, it does not mean that they will not be cast in the show or even in a principle role. It just means that we saw everything we needed to see from them in order to place them.
Rehearsals will be Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays weekly, as well as one Saturday per month. We will provide a conflict calendar for families to list any conflicts they have and will create a detailed call list for each rehearsal based off of what we plan to cover and our performers’ availability. That said, all performers will be called for most of the rehearsals. We believe that balance is important and students should have plenty of time to spend with family, friends, other classes and activities, but we expect that students who are cast in this production make rehearsals priority and continue working on their blocking, music, choreography, and scripts outside of rehearsal, as well.
